The high school student and quarterback involved in a motorcycle accident last week has passed away.

Sebastian Rivera, a high school junior at Central High School, was critically injured in a motorcycle accident along Mariner Boulevard on his way to school. Sebastian died Sunday after putting up a fight for nearly a week.

Rivera could light up the football field with his talent or light up a room with his smile. His father, Martin, said his son will always be by his side.

"When you have a chance to hug your family member or your loved one, or son or daughter, don't for a moment think you have tomorrow," his father said. "Always do it."

Sebastian was the starting quarterback for the school. He loved life on the field and off. His father said his son was gifted in many ways.

"He could take a bad situation and make it awesome," he said. "I think he was amazing."

Head football coach Chris Sands feels the same way. He says with heavy hearts, life will go on at school because that is what Sebastian would want.

"We are at peace with that," he said. "We know he is in a better place. The only thing now we can do is pray and hope for the best for his family."

Martin says all the support from the community have been amazing.

"Thank you for all the prayers because I know God heard them," he said. "There is no way he didn't hear them."
