A 27-year-old man has been arrested in the death of his 7-week-old son.

Detectives said the infant, Angelo Guadalupe, was taken to All Children's Hospital on June 29, 2015.

The child’s father, Michael, had been watching the boy that day while the mother went to work, detectives said.

The father said his son was fed and placed in his crib after becoming fussy, according to detectives. He said he then observed the infant to be unresponsive and called 911.

Detectives said the victim had extensive internal injuries which were inconsistent with the father's initial description of what occurred.

The child underwent surgery and was taken off life support July 7, 2015.

Based upon the Medical Examiner's evaluation, the cause of death was determined to be "blunt head trauma", the injuries likely from being shaken, police said. The manner of death was ruled homicide.

Guadalupe was charged with 1st degree murder and taken to the Pinellas County Jail this afternoon.
