In just a few weeks, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Safety Town will be overrun with the undead.

Courtney Del Toro plans to have zombies roaming the streets and jumping out from trees –- all for 7-year-old Spencer Holt.

Spencer is terminally ill. His family originally reached out to Courtney through her company, Good4UEvents, to take zombie-themed family photos.

Spencer loves zombies. Once Courtney found out everything the family was going through, she offered to take the photos for free.

Courtney, however, wanted to do more.

“We really got to do something else,” Courtney said. “We have all these great community connections, let’s pull it all together and make something really happen for him. At 7 years old, how cool is it that zombies will jump out at you? It’ll be a night he’ll never forget.”

Courtney, with the help of the community, is planning a surprise zombie bash for Spencer. Courtney and her fiancée Joe Santoro are partnering with different businesses in the community to provide food, water, supplies for a haunted house and even an inflatable big-screen television.

The event will be free and open to the public.

They still need supplies, such as bags of individually wrapped candy, Halloween decorations and plastic bags. For a full list of what they need, check out their event page.

Above all, they need volunteers to play zombies.

“We just want people to be able to jump from trees, jump out from behind buildings, any type of scare tactic they can offer,” Courtney said.

Spencer’s parents know about the surprise, but the 7-year-old has no clue what’s in store.

“Spencer has no idea that this is happening,” she said. “Spencer thinks that his family is coming here for a photo shoot, so this will definitely be the night of his life.”

The party is schedule for 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 19.
