Dade City's police 911 dispatch will consolidate with Pasco County's dispatch starting Monday.

The city becomes Pasco's first to consolidate 911 operations with the county. The goal, officials said, is to provide more efficient service and improve information sharing between the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and the Dade City police department.

Earlier this year, the county hired eight additional call takers to handle the increase in county-wide 911 calls. It receives about 600,000 calls a year for service.
