When zombies attacked the Pasco County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, Sheriff Chris Nocco knew who to call.

Enter 7-year-old Spencer Holt, law enforcement's No. 1 fan and all-round zombie killer.

Spencer, who suffers from various life-threatening illnesses, was a special guest of the agency. He and his family received a police escort to the sheriff's office, a tour of the facilty and gifts.

Then came the real mission.

"We are getting overrun," the sheriff told Spencer about the zombies. "We need your help. We need a team leader out there."

Nocco drew up a plan for Spencer, his brother and nephew. He swore them in and armed them with special zombie killing weapons that were totally safe.

"We spend a lot of time in the hospital and a lot of time in bed," said Spencer's mother, Cher Holt. "So what do you do when you can’t do nothing? You watch TV, movies and play games. He likes being a good guy and killing the bad guys."

Next on the list was an assault on zombies, played by area drama school students, that ended with a "Thriller dance" performance by Pasco County deputies.

"Because he spends a lot of his time in the hospital, it’s something different and special," Cher Holt said. "And have fun. It’s nice for him to be able to meet new people."
