A reward of $20,000 is now being offered in the case of a Lake Alfred man gunned down in front of his home last month.

Terry Yelvington, 60, was shot and killed on Aug. 11 as he left his home on Todhunter Way South to go to work.

Witnesses said they heard gunshots, then saw a vehicle, described as a four-door, late 90s to early 2000s GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Blazer, possibly burgundy or dark in color.

Investigators released a surveillance photo showing the vehicle in question.

Investigators released surveillance video showing the vehicle they say was seen driving away from the scene after Yelvington was shot and killed.

Sheriff Grady Judd authorized the increase of the reward being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

"We need the public's help to solve this senseless homicide," he said. "If you know something, say something."

Investigators say they have a lot of questions in the murder, including a possible motive.

“Someone wanted him dead," Judd said last month. "We just don’t know what that reason is."

Yelvington was a well-liked softball coach in Polk County. People who knew him said they are shocked by his death, and that they don't know of anyone who would have possibly wanted him dead.

“He was the type of guy that I could not think of an enemy that he would have, 'cause he’s loved by everybody,” said Mike Sheffield, who coached alongside him.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Katsoulis at 863-298-6925 or 863-298-6200.
