Police say an elderly man who was reported missing Tuesday has been found.

Bob Taylor, 82, was found at 9:44 a.m. in the northeast corner of Sylvan Abbey memorial Park, which is across the street from his home. Taylor has Parkinson's and early dementia, and usually uses a walker or a cane.

Cemetery worker Dennis Johnson spotted a "clump of color" at the edge of the woods and went to investigate. That's when he found Taylor on the ground.

Taylor was able to talk, but he was extremely cold. Detective Thomas Dawe picked him up from the wet, shaded area and carried him to a sunny spot to warm him up. Taylor was covered with coats, jackets and sweaters while Dawe rubbed his body to warm him up.

"Even when I first grabbed him, his arms were so tight and so cold, I wasn’t even sure if he was alive," Dawe said. "And then I called him by his name, I called for Bob and he answered. It was a great deal of relief for us."

Taylor was reported missing at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Officers spent the night searching for him, handing out flyers at locations around his home. A helicopter and two bloodhounds were also recruited to help with the search.

"It was agonizing," said Taylor's son, Andrew. "And as the hours went by, you started to fear for the worst."

Taylor told his family he went walking and became disoriented, then fell. Now he's in good spirits, but he was unsure of himself as he waited in the frigid weather overnight.

Taylor was treated for hypothermia at Mease Countryside Hospital.
