A 16-year-old girl is in an induced coma after she was accidentally shot during a home invasion in Holiday, deputies say.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the home invasion, which happened shortly after 1 a.m. at a home in the 3300 block of Garfield Drive in Holiday.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the suspects were probably looking for drugs. Six people were in the house at the time.

"Three black males knock on the door," Sheriff Chris Nocco said. "One of the juveniles answers. The three black males charge into the house."

Nocco said the men were screaming, "Antonio, Antonio," and Antonio Kourounis, who lives at the home, came out with a shotgun.

"As he’s laying down the shotgun, about to fire, the juvenile female is running across," Nocco said. "It’s a scene of melee in there. He fires a round, the round hits her in the left arm, shoulder area. She goes down."

The suspects then ran from the house.

After that, deputies say two teenagers at the home took off running down the street to hide drugs that were inside.

Deputies arrived shortly after the shooting, and at about 11 a.m., they started arresting people at the home, one by one, mostly on drug charges. Karen Lynn Clark, 34, and Colton Conrad, 20, were among those arrested, as were two teenagers.

Kourounis was not arrested, as investigators say he was allowed to have the gun and they don't think he was involved with the drugs.

"It is known throughout the community that there are drugs at this house, so this was again not a random house," Nocco said.

In fact, investigators say that within the past five months, this was the second time the home was broken into.

"They took one or two of them to the hospital," neighbor Alan Venckus said. "There was three ambulance there. That was a couple of months ago."

Neighbors hope the arrests made Thursday will hopefully put a stop to the crime happening at the home.

“I would hope it would not happen again, because it makes us concerned," Venckus said. "We’re seniors here. We don’t have any weapons or anything. We rely on the police to protect us."

The three suspects are still on the loose. Investigators don't know whether they were the same people who broke into the home a few months ago.
