  • Bay News 9 hosted two Town Halls on Oct. 18
  • Both Charlie Crist (D) and David Jolly (R) were given an icebreaker questionnaire

The segments, which consisted of real questions courtesy of real voters, aired later that evening.

Background:

David Jolly (R) currently represents the 13th district which was originally held by the late Rep. Bill Young. Earlier this year Jolly was registered as a candidate for Sen. Marco Rubio's seat but announced in June that he would instead run for re-election in Congress.

Charlie Crist (D) is a former Florida Governor who ran for U.S. Senate in 2010. In April 2010 Crist left the Republican party and registered as an Independent. He lost the race to Sen. Marco Rubio. Crist then switched to the Democratic party in 2012 and ran for governor in 2014 but was defeated by Govenor Rick Scott.
