A new sense of hope has been restored for Trinity residents about the abandoned Trinity Town Center. The entire 13.5 acres, eleven buildings, and more than 165,000 square feet will be auctioned off on Friday, October 28th.

  • Center has sat vacant for years
  • Neighbors have expressed concerns over safety
  • Hope is that a buyer will fulfill the space's business potential

Financial struggles and legal battles have kept building leases in limbo, and the center has sat vacant for years. Neighbors have complained about the massive plaza becoming an eyesore, and have expressed concerns over safety after vandals have broken glass windows, spray painted graffiti, and trashed the buildings.

"We just thought, 'Wow this is going to be great for the neighborhood, for the area,' then it never materialized and we've been so disappointed," Trinity resident Maria Hadfield said.

"Every morning people are walking their dogs, children going to school and with the town center coming in, we were so excited," added Hadfield. "And now that it's being vandalized on what seems to be a regular basis it makes you feel unsafe."

Auctioneer John Harris said he has had interest from potential buyers who have similar visions of turning the Trinity Town Center into the booming business hub everyone had hoped for.

"There's no destination like this in Trinity and it can be a mix of businesses services and retail and shops," said Harris. "The way it's structured, with the clock tower and all that, it's still a beautiful facility, it just needs to be updated."

Neighbors said they'll keep their fingers crossed that a thriving Trinity Town Center will become reality.
