Inside a little shed in Palmetto, Anthony Bennett runs AB Customz, creating custom shoe designs for anybody and everybody.

  • Shoes can take 3-8 hours to create
  • Number of NFL players wear shoes made by Bennett
  • Took some 'trial and error,' Bennett says

"I've made shoes for NFL players such as Vincent Jackson, Jailene Watkins, Brandon Copeland," Bennett said.

From superhero themes to college teams, it's buyers' choice for what designs can go on the shoes.

However, perfecting the custom kicks took some trial and error.

"I painted the shoes, put a design on them, put my name on them," Bennett said. "Thought I was the hottest thing on the court, and two minutes into the game the paint started peeling off of them."

Creation of the shows can take anywhere from three to eight hours of work. The cost of the shows can run from $100 to $350.

No pair of shoes is exactly the same.

"It's kind of like running a marathon," Bennett said. "Once you see that finish line, you get past the finish line, you look back, you're like, 'Man, I really accomplished something.'"

While Bennett makes shoes for teams across the nation, he stays true to his hometown and says his dream is to make shoes for Jamies Winston.
