Early voting for the November general election has kicked off across the Tampa Bay area.

In addition, 50 of the state's 67 counties kick off early voting Monday as well.

Hillsborough, Pinellas, Hernando, Citrus, Polk and Manatee opened polls. Early voting begins Saturday in Pasco County. Any registered voter can cast their ballot early, in person, during this period.

Supervisors of Elections in the Bay area are expecting large turnouts for early voting.

Counties across the state have expanded early voting from eight to 14 days — and from eight to 12 hours a day. This comes after complaints in 2012 of long lines that Democrats argued blocked some people from casting ballots.

As early voting gets underway, most Florida counties are working through a backlog of new voter registrations. A federal judge ordered an extra week for Floridians to register after Hurricane Matthew scraped the state's east coast three weeks ago.

Polls will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Nov. 6. Contact your county Supervisor of Elections for more information.

Hillsborough County opened 16 polling locations Monday. Pinellas will open five and five will also open in Manatee County. Additional locations are listed below:
