Multiple cars were involved in a collision on U.S. 19 in Hernando County Sunday. The crash occured just north of Glenn Lakes Boulevard.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, the crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. Deborah Jata, 63, was turning left into the intersection of U.S. 19 and Happy Days Drive, and the turn took her into the path of another oncoming car.

The second car, driven by Justin McCallister, 33, collided with the left front of Jata's car. McCallister and his two passengers, Caileb McCallister, 8, and Haley McCallister, 11, all suffered injuries in the crash.

Haley and her father were transported to Bayonet Point Hospital, while Caileb was transported to Tampa General Hospital. No further information has been released on their condition.

According to Hernando County Fire Rescue, the crash was so severe a Bayflite helicopter had to be called to the scene.

Troopers reported that Jata was uninjured in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
