Today, Nov. 15, is Hillsborough County's National Adoption Day and organizers want to be able to share these special moments with everyone in the community.

It's a moment some kids have been waiting years for -- finding their forever families.

Normally it's a private process, but today it's being opened up to the public to help share this special occasion.

Jennifer and her husband are officially adopting little Layla on Hillsborough National Adoption Day. "We set out for two, but God blessed us with three," Jennifer said.

Jennifer said Layla has been a part of their family since she was two months old, but as a foster child. Her other two children, Ella and Mackenzie, were also adopted. "She is definitely a daddy's girl, and she is super bonded to us, and it would've broke our hearts if she left, so we can't wait," Jennifer said.

She admits the adoption process can be stressful, but she said she wouldn't have it any other way. "The worst struggle, emotional roller coaster, that I've ever been on, but oh so worth it. I would not trade a moment of not being able to have any of these kids in my life," she said.

Hillsborough's National Adoption Day is held each November in conjunction with National Adoption Month thanks to a host of community partners and eckered kids.

Opening ceremonies were at the George E. Edgecomb Courthouse. Nineteen Hillsborough foster children and their families were attending.
