According to officials, Charles McMullen was working on a case at a children's home for boys who've been abused. Investigators said two 8-year-olds claimed McMullen inappropriately touched them and made them perform sexual acts on him.

McMullen used to work for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in Tampa investigating crimes against children.

McMullen used to live in Hillsborough County. and his old neighbors were stunned to hear what happened.

"I'm shocked, I couldn't believe it. He lived right here, right across the street. It's terrible," said former neighbor Annette Haynes. "That's not cool. We're supposed to trust our kids with our officers. He's not supposed to do that."

Investigators reported that when they approached McMullen with the allegations, he started crying and denied the allegations against him.

McMullen is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of two victims under 12 years old. He has since been placed on administrative leave.
