Racing4Vets, a non-profit for veterans, was hit by thieves in January.

However, Saturday was a good day at Racing4Vets, because the charity is celebrating a new beginning.

After the shop was broken into and burglarized, Bay News 9 covered the incident. A miracle then happened for the group of veterans.

"Lowe's picked up on it, and we went from working on cars to building a new shop," said the co-founder of Racing4Vets, John Vann.

Lowe's offered $50,000 worth of remodeling. "The last six months, our veterans have put in hundreds and hundreds of hours to get the shop to where it is now," Vann said. "It has been a real blessing that Lowe's has really stepped up and provided us the tools to build the shop."

The inside of the shop is hardly recognizable.

"Before the break-in, none of this was here," Vann said. "Lowe's partnered with us, all the steel racking, the floors, the peg board to hang everything up was all donated by Lowe's," Vann said.

It's made an important place for veterans even more able to serve those who serve us.

"They're brothers, sisters, people you've served with, people have put their lives on the line and are willing to still do the same for you and support you," said veteran Mario Hernandez. "It's great to have this circle here."

Racing4Vets has been helping veterans since 2014 by giving disabled military veterans career training and the opportunity to compete in amateur motorsports.
