An investigation is underway into a fatal hit-and-run crash in Tampa, police said.

A bicyclist was struck Sunday morning in the crosswalk by a dark-colored vehicle at the intersection of Himes and Hillsborough avenues, according to police.

The vehicle fled the scene, heading westbound on Hillsborough Ave.

The bicyclist died at the scene, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

Traffic is shut down in both direction on Hillsborough Ave. from Himes to Dale Mabry Highway.  It will remained closed for a few hours while officers conduct their investigation.

Tampa Police are looking for a red Dodge Ram pickup truck or SUV. Investigators say the vehicle will have front end damage and a missing side mirror.
