Santa Claus has been very busy listening to Christmas wish lists for just about everybody, including patients at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.

  • Sick kids get direct link from hospital to the North Pole
  • Patients at St. Joseph Hospital got to talk to Santa and Mrs. Claus
  • Local radio station turned into "Santa Net Control Center"

On Tuesday, Santa’s helpers from the hospital and the Bay Area Emergency Amateur Radio Service helped give patients a direct link from the hospital to the North Pole.

For years, Christopher Perry and members of the Bay Area Emergency Amateur Radio Service have turned their station into the “Santa Net Control Center” where they’re able to connect patients to Santa and Mrs. Claus.

"Even though you're still in the hospital, Santa still knows where you're located and Santa knows all," Perry said. "You just can't help but smile when you hear the happiness or reassurance from the children that even though they're in the hospital that somebody's thinking about them," Perry said.

Santa’s hospital helpers and volunteers walked room to room with their special radio that allowed the patients to talk to Santa, ask questions, and tell him what they want for Christmas.

Melissa Wallace’s daughter has been in and out of the hospital regularly and said these acts of kindness help make their dark days more merry and bright.

"She's still getting to celebrate the holidays and still gets to be a part of things when she's missing out not being at home," Wallace said.

"It's amazing seeing her get to be a regular kid in between procedures and meds and it's nice that she's just as happy as she would be at home," Wallace said.

After speaking with Santa, his helpers passed out presents to the patients.
