The adorable new animals at the Tampa Lowry Park Zoo are celebrating their first Christmas this year.

  • Zoo babies celebrate 1st Christmas at Tampa Lowry Park Zoo
  • The zoo welcomed 3 new members in September

To celebrate the "zoo babies'" first Christmas, the Animal Care Team at the zoo provided special enrichments themed for the holiday.

Enrichments encourage animals to perform natural behaviors and exercise, which helps satisfy both the physical and psychological needs of the animals.

In September, the Tampa Lowry Park Zoo welcomed three new members to their family over consecutive days.

Berisi was the first Malayan tiger born at the Tampa Lowry Park Zoo on Sept. 11. Berisi means "plump" in Malay, and the mother's name is Bzui (Be-Zoo-ee).

A Malayan tapir named Tengahari was born Sept. 10. Tengahari means "noon" in Malay.

A southern white rhino named Kipenzi was born Sept. 12. Kipenzi means "loved one" in Swahili.
