A homeless camp in Oneco caught fire on Christmas Eve, according to Southern Manatee Fire Rescue.

The fire broke out just after 1 p.m. Saturday at the former La Mexicana Flea Market located at the southwest corner of 15th Street East and 57th Avenue East.

There were no reports of injuries.

The Red Cross arrived at the scene about 2:30 p.m. to provide assistance.

A state fire marshal was called in to investigate the fire. So far, officials have not yet determined the cause.

According to firefighters, the buildings damaged by the fire would be demolished once the fire marshal completes the investigation.
