Mayor Rick Kriseman of St. Petersburg recently revealed some exciting numbers about the city's economy. Kriseman said the household income rose 12 percent, the city population grew to 260,000 people, and there was record boom in construction.

However, Kriseman said the main priority now is getting the city's sewer system to catch up with the economy. 

"We're gonna invest over the next five years, $304 million in fixing the sewer system issue. We're gonna be doing a master plan of our entire system. We're gonna be doing a master plan of our storm water system. So, we're gonna make those investments in the infrastructure of the city that you have to make if you want to continue to sustain that growth," Kriseman said. 

The city is also creating a new economic development corporation to help it become more competitive with other major cities in the state.
