A Tampa man was arrested Wednesday after police said he repeatedly beat his dog with a metal pole.

Authorities also said Narendra Prashad had chained his dog to a tree in the backyard.
Hillsborough County Animal Control officers responded to the scene after a complaint and determined the dog sustained injuries due to Prashad beating the dog with the metal broom stick.
Prashad was charged with felony animal abuse and confinement of animals without sufficient water, food or shelter.
Animal control took custody of the dog and took it to a veterinarian.
