Police are looking for a Winter Haven man who they say attacked his adult stepson with a knife.

A arrest warrant has been issued for Jeremie Pierre, 53, on charges of attempted second-degree murder.

The attack happened Thursday evening at their home in the 1800 block of Third Street NW.

Police say Tavarus Harrison, 21, said he was trying to enter the home, but the two men started arguing. After Harrison was inside the house, the men got into a physical altercation, police said, and Pierre attacked Harrison with a knife.

Harrison received multiple deep lacerations to both hands as well as a bite mark on his forearm, police said.

Harrison was able to break free and run from the house, then called for law enforcement. However, Pierre left the house prior to officers arriving on scene and has not been seen since.

Pierre is described as a black man who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 187 pounds. He has prior arrests in Polk County for aggravated assault, felony battery, resisting arrest with violence and marijuana possession.

Anyone with information on Pierre's whereabouts is asked to call police at 863-401-2256. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
