Hillsborough County deputies are searching for a man they say swapped a Rolex watch worth $6,900 with a cheap imitation at a Tampa-area golf club.

According to a report, on Feb. 8, the man, who identified himself as "Evan White," met the alleged theft victim at the Bloomingdale Golfers Club. The man was responding to a Craigslist ad about the watch, a 2012 Rolex Submariner.

Sometime while talking to the alleged theft victim and viewing the watch, "Evan White" allegedly exchanged the Rolex with the knockoff.

The man declined to purchase the watch and left in a dark blue Chevy pickup truck with dark tinted windows. Deputies say a very thin white female with short brown hair was also spotted in the vehicle.

"Evan White" is described as a white man, 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-8, about 200 pounds, with a short fade haircut. He was last seen wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt, dark sweatpants with white vertical stripes, and black and white sneakers.

Anyone with information about the man or the incident is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 247-8200.
