Here's what you need to know about the Tampa Bay area's weather for Saturday night, the rest of the weekend and beyond:

  • Sheltered locations could get frost
  • Lots of sun Valentine's Day morning
  • Valentine's Day highs in the mid to upper 60s

A strong surface high is expected to move by to our north tonight and Sunday. This will result in a tightening of the pressure gradient across Florida.

If the winds drop off for a short while overnight, some sheltered locations in Citrus and Hernando counties could get some frost. If you know you live an area that normally gets colder than areas around you, it would be prudent to protect or bring indoors any tender plants.

In most areas, the light breeze overnight will make it feel colder than actual temperatures. Expect lows around Tampa Bay in the low to mid 40s to mid 30s for inland Citrus and Hernando counties.

Sunday should be a pleasant day with lots of sun in the morning, but we'll see some increasing clouds from the Atlantic during the afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the middle to upper 60s.

Low temperatures Sunday night will be up considerably from tonight's cold, ranging from the mid 40s far north to upper 40s and 50s elsewhere.

Rain chances will increase as we head into Monday night. A cold front will move in from the northwest. Showers and a few storms will move in ahead of the front as soon as late evening Monday for the Nature Coast first. Showers and a few storms will be possible though the overnight.

It will dry out quickly Tuesday morning with the passage of the cold front.

An extended period of dry weather will return for Tuesday afternoon through Friday as high pressure quickly builds overhead. The air mass behind this next front is cool but not cold and moderates quickly. Therefore, temperatures look to be in the upper 60s to around 70 for Wednesday, then begin a climb toward slightly above-normal temperatures for the end of the week.
