A water main break occurred in Clearwater Thursday morning.

City officials say the break occurred in the Morningside neighborhood along Nursery Road near U.S. 19.

A contractor working on the 2400 block accidentally struck and damaged the main.

Clearwater Public Utilities crews are currently on-site shutting down water valves in order to fix the broken main. Affected addresses include 2401 Nursery Road all the way to U.S. 19.

According to officials, others in the Morningside and Glenmoor area have been affected, as well, experiencing low water pressure or yellow water.

Nursery Road from S. Haven Drive to U.S. 19 will be closed for the duration of the repairs. Drivers are advised to detour to S. Haven Drive. Officials estimate the repair will take approximately four hours.

Boil water notices will be issued for the affected areas. Once water samples report clear, a recission notice to affected properties will be issued, as well.
