Tampa Police have identified the man killed in a shooting at a strip club that injured seven others early Saturday morning.

Marvin Douglass Lancaster III, 21, of Brandon was declared dead after the shooting at Club Rayne, 8123 N. Nebraska Ave.

The shooting happened sometime after 2 a.m., police said. When officers arrived, they found seven people who had been shot. One person, Lancaster, was dead. Six were taken to hospitals, and one other victim arrived at a hospital on their own.

“All of the sudden I heard four shots, and people started running," said Juno Davis, who was inside the club at the time of the shooting. “It was like a stampede — people stepping over each other. Some people had to go to the hospital for injuries just being stomped.”

Officials said three of seven victims are women, and three are younger than 21. According to investigators, their injuries range from minor to serious. Their conditions have not been updated.

An argument led to the shooting, investigators said.

Police hope any cellphone video and photos taken inside the club can help them piece together what happened.

Lynn Potts and Robert Mattos were at Club Rayne Saturday night but left a few hours before the shooting. They said they didn’t see anything out of the ordinary when they were there.

“It’s crazy,” Mattos said. “I'm not going back in that place.”

Both Mattos and Potts said everyone typically is frisked by security before going into the club.

"The fact that it was so crowded makes it confusing, and there were also a number of potential witnesses, so we are hopeful that people will step forward,” Tampa Police spokesman Stephen Hegarty said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Tampa Police at 813-231-6130.
