Here's what you need to know about the Tampa Bay area's weather for Sunday and the rest of the weekend:

  • Dew points, temperatures to fall
  • Sunny but cold Sunday
  • Winds to make it feel chillier

Hazarous boating conditions will continue for the most part of Sunday through Tuesday.

Upper level energy will accelerate across northern Florida by Sunday morning.

This will cause a rapid development of surface low pressure out over the Atlantic waters. As the surface low rapidly intensifies to our east and moves away, it will generate gusty northwest winds.

As the low shifts east, rain will end quickly, replaced with much cooler and drier air from the northwest. Dew points and temperatures will plunge, with lows Sunday morning from near 40 north to the mid 40s around Tampa Bay.

These northwest winds will continue into the day on Sunday, eventually subsiding by the late afternoon and evening hours. With stout cold air advection through the day, expect highs to only reach the 50s Sunday, despite mostly sunny skies. Winds in the 15 to 20 mph range will make it feel chillier.

Monday will start off in the mid 40s in Tampa Bay to the upper 30s in Citrus and Hernando counties. High temperatures will rebound into the low to mid 60s. Winds will start off more on the lighter side but will again increase in the afternoon out of the west at 20 to 25 mph. Another cold front will approach, increasing the clouds as well.

On Monday night, the cold front will move through. There will be a chance for a few light showers lasting into the first half of Tuesday.

The rain will end by Tuesday afternoon, but high temperatures will only be in the mid 50s, with blustery northwest winds and mostly cloudy skies.

Temperatures will drop back down Tuesday night into the low to mid 40s around Tampa Bay to  mid and upper 30s for the Nature Coast.

Winds will begin to taper off Wednesday, and clouds will decrease. Highs still will only be in the upper 50s.

Thursday will start out very chilly with lows again in the low to mid 40s around Tampa Bay to mid and upper 30s for the Nature Coast. More sunshine will push the highs into the low to mid 60s.

Temperaures will be close to normal by Friday.
