A former Pinellas County taekwondo instructor is facing additional charges after a third child accused him of molesting her.

Andrew Jin Kim, 23, is facing a charge of capital sexual battery in addition to two previous counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Kim was arrested Friday on allegations he had molested two girls, ages 6 and 7. The latest charge stems from an allegation involving an 8-year-old girl.

Detectives say Kim had access to the girls through his employment as an instructor at Oh's Tae Kwon Do, located at 7520 Seminole Blvd. in Seminole.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, detectives started investigating Kim in January after one of the girls told her mother that he had touched her inappropriately. The mother in turn contacted the Sheriff's Office.

Detectives said they determined that, between 2014 and 2015, Kim touched the girls in an inappropriate manner while they were both undressed. Kim then allegedly told the girls to keep the incidents secret.

Kim was taken into custody, and detectives said he admitted to the allegations. He was then taken to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Detectives say the latest allegation came after local news reported on Kim's arrest. The mother of one of the initial victims sent a link to a news story to the mother of the 8-year-old girl, who then spoke with her daughter.

On Monday, the mother contacted the Sheriff's Office and informed them that her daughter had been molested by Kim.

According to detectives, sometime in late July or August 2015, Kim picked up the girl from school to take her to Oh's Tae Kwon Do for class. While they were in the vehicle, Kim allegedly forced the girl to engage in a sex act with him.

Detectives say Richard Oh, who owns the taekwondo studio, has been cooperative with the investigation and had no knowledge of the actions of which Kim is accused.

“We teach our students to protect themselves from people like this, and this hit home here," Oh said to a reporter over the weekend. "I’m so disappointed."

Oh said Kim was fired from the school last August because he wasn't truthful about his whereabouts.

Investigators say there could be more victims. They're asking anyone with any information to contact the Crimes Against Children Unit at 727-582-6200.
