Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Steven Souza Jr. is encouraging fans to join him in supporting Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Tampa Bay.
The Rays' right-fielder, now in his second full season with Tampa Bay, will be the team's ambassador in "Bowl For Kids' Sake" on March 31. Fans can collect donations to earn a chance to bowl alongside Souza Jr.
On March 15, Souza Jr. launched a campaign through his Twitter handle, @SouzaJr, to encourage donations, and he has announced he will offer autographed prizes for those who donate.
Those who donate $1,250 — the average cost of matching a volunteer mentor, or "Big" with a child, or "Little" for one year — prior to the end of the campaign March 30 will be eligible for an invitation to the Bowl For Kids' Sake VIP party.
