A Tampa airport has reopened about 24 hours after two people were killed when a plane crashed shortly after takeoff Friday.

Peter O. Knight Airport closed around 11:45 a.m. Friday after a twin-engine Cessna 340 bound for Pensacola crashed. The pilot and a passenger were killed in the crash.

The airport, operated by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, was closed for more than 24 hours as authorities investigated the crash. The airport reopened around 8 p.m. Saturday.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
