A Polk County couple was killed after his mobile home caught fire early Monday morning.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 1 a.m. from someone who spotted the fire. When firefighters arrived the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames.

Shane Brassford, 46, and Susan Hall, 41, were found dead inside the trailer on Old Polk Road.

"It’s going to be bad around here without him,” said Gene Robson, Brassford’s grandfather.

Brassford’s mobile home sat on Robson’s property.

“Last few weeks we got along real good and it seemed like he was realizing what he had,” Robson said.

Brassford’s dog was also killed in the fire. Another dog was found uninjured outside.

"Both of them were good people, just darn good people. I love them to pieces,” said Pamela Littleton, a family friend.

"She was so sweet, dark curly hair, just a sweet little thing,” said Lisa Turner, Hall’s aunt.

The cause and manner of the fire are pending toxicology results. No foul play is suspected.
