Deputies arrested a New Port Richey woman after she called 911 multiple times to report cats in her yard.

Pasco County authorities say deputies responded to the home of Yleana Maria Ruiz, 52, on March 24 after she called 911 reporting an emergency.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Ruiz said she had called 911 for help more than five times out of concern that cats in her yard might defecate there.

She confirmed to deputies that she was not in danger, nor did she have any current medical emergency.

Deputies then warned Ruiz that she would be arrested if she continued to misuse the 911 system for non-emergencies. She responded by saying she would call again.

At that point Ruiz was arrested for misuse of 911 and transported to the Land O'Lakes jail.
