Politicians at every level of government are burned in effigy at some point in their careers.  And that can happen anywhere, anytime.

It happened to Florida Governor Rick Scott recently.  While the governor was purchasing a cup of coffee at a Florida Starbucks, a woman started heckling him about health care.  She said the governor, “stripped women of access to public health care.”

PolitiFact Florida heard the claim and gave it a HALF TRUE rating.

PolitiFact writer Josh Gillin said the woman was referring to a bill Governor Scott signed into law pulling Planned Parenthood funding.  While that is true, Planned Parenthood clinics aren’t the only place women can go for health care.

“County health departments and other clinics… things like that.  So while Planned Parenthood clinics are kind of the focus here of this legislation, there are still other places to go.  It’s not all gone,” Gillin said.

For that reason alone, the heckler’s statement received a HALF TRUE rating.
