With knitting needles in hand, Kristin Lohr catches the bus to work each morning.

Her commute, within 5 miles of her business, isn't long, but Lohr makes productive use of the time by doing what she does best: knitting.

Lohr is someone the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority wants to showcase as a way to thrive on public transportation, according to PSTA Media Liaison Ashley Handy.

"We like to think that you don't have to take public transportation to survive. You can thrive with public transportation and you can actually grow your business like Kristin is doing," she said.

Lohr's business relies on her productivity and in her words, "If I'm sitting, I'm knitting. And I can't knit when I'm driving."

She began posting photos of her work while riding the bus on Instagram and Twitter, using the hashtag #cantknitifImdriving. That got the attention of PSTA.

The Wi-Fi on the buses are also attractive to Lohr, of Stash — A Place for Yarn on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg.

"You can check your email, get started on your day, you know, get a couple of things done before you get to work," she said.

Lohr's current project involves a "Sockathon," knitting socks for Clothes To Kids
