For the first time, a Pasco County elementary school teacher is using drones in her classroom.

Woodland Elementary teacher Bobbi Starling got the drones through a grant. It's just one of the tech gadgets that the teacher is using to engage her fourth- and fifth-grade students.

“A lot of the things I have worked hard to get some grants for. Our 3-D printer I received from a creative teaching grant," Starling said. "I was part of a team that got a grant for aviation aeronautics to get some flight simulators and different drones that we use in the classroom.”

The students also enter robotics competitions.

“It’s definitely interesting to think about how much you can learn from something that you think is so fun," fifth-grader Makenzie Reed said.

Starling has been teaching for 24 years.
