Pinellas County is hiring full and part-time lifeguards.

Beach season has arrived and swimmers, paddle boarders, kayakers and body-surfers have already started to flood Pinellas County beaches. Pinellas County is hiring lifeguards to monitor county beaches to help visitors have a fun and safe experience.

Lifeguards will be stationed on county beaches at Fort De Soto, Sand Key and Fred Howard parks until Monday, Sept. 19.

Positions are available for full-time or part-time seasonal employment, with pay starting at $12.55 per hour. Shifts are 10 hours per day.

Requirements for the position include:

American Red Cross certifications:


• American Red Cross or equivalent current lifeguarding certification
• American Red Cross or equivalent current CPR/AED for professional rescuers and health care providers.
• American Red Cross or equivalent current first aid certification.

Experience:

• Three months of responsible lifeguard experience within the last five years

Must pass the following physical agility pre-hire tests:

•  500 meter swim under 10 minutes
•  One mile run under eight minutes

Additional requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work any county beach parks as schedule and staffing demands.
• Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver license.

Highly desirable qualifications:


• Current first responder, E.M.T. or paramedic certification
• Coast Guard boating safety certification – eight hours
