Psoriasis is a condition that affects the mind, body and emotions, and doctors said 2 to 4 percent of all Americans suffer it.

Now a Bay area dermatologist is offering a brand new clinical trial that could help combat psoriatic arthritis.

  • Dr. Seth Forman says he's seen 'overwhelming results'

Professional chef Christian Lopez-Jimenez says his career has suffered because of his psoriatic arthritis. His condition affects him physically and hurts his joints.

"My bones and my joints and my hands, I work a lot with my hands so it does affect me," Lopez-Jimenez said.

His dermatologist, Dr. Seth Forman, told him about the new clinical trial, and Lopez-Jimenez didn’t hesitate to take part.

Dr. Foreman said nearly half of the population that has psoriasis develops the arthritis. He said results he’s seen from the clinical trial are similar to other treatments he offers and said it seems to be working well.

"I've seen overwhelming results for patients who used to be in wheelchairs and are now able to walk because their arthritis is now been recovered," he said.

Lopez-Jimenez, 30, said he noticed results right away and is excited to continue doing what he loves.

"I'm feeling great," he said. "I can have a normal haircut. I can wear normal clothes."
