Officials at the Indian Rocks Beach fire station are asking voters to approve a new property tax on the next ballot that will help Pinellas County’s Suncoast Fire and Rescue District.

According to Fire Chief Sal D’Angelo, stations 26, 27 and 28 all need major attention.

  • New tax would add $150 in property tax to a $300,000 home
  • Fire Chief says two stations need to be completely replaced
  • Residents can vote on addition Nov. 8

“This fire district has been in existence since 1953,” said Chief D’Angelo. “The residents of this fire district deserve first class service.”

The new proposal would add 50 cents for every taxable $1,000 of a homestead. For a home valued at $300,000, for example, that would mean an increase of $150 per year.

Residents can vote for or against the new property tax on the next ballot on Election Day, November 8.
