Five children and a man were injured after an SUV crashed into a school bus in Haines City, according to police.

The crash happened at the intersection of Bates Road and Villa Sorrento Circle.

According to police, Robert Robinson, 69, was driving behind a school bus on Bates Road when it stopped along Villa Sorrento Circle to drop off students.

Robinson failed to stop and slammed his Dodge Durango into the back of the bus, police said.

Robinson was transported to Lakeland Regional Hospital in critical condition.  The five injured children were taken to Heart of Florida Hospital.

About 50 children were on the bus at the time of the crash; no other injuries were reported.

This investigation is ongoing.
