A St. Petersburg police officer was injured in a crash Monday afternoon.
- Car fleeing traffic stop hits officer riding in ATV/cart
- 2 people fled scene, later arrested
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, police tried to make a traffic stop on 5th Street and 12th Ave. S.
The car didn't stop and instead sped-up, but the officers didn't pursue.
The car continued north at a high rate of speed and struck an officer driving a police ATV/cart.
Two men jumped out and ran from the scene.
The officer was hurt and was taken to Bayfront Health with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers caught up with the two suspects and arrested them.
