A 58-year-old man from North Carolina was killed Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash in Spring Hill.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Randy Dale Gainey of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, was riding a 2003 American motorcycle eastbound on Shoal Line Boulevard just before 10 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve.
Troopers said Gainey crashed approaching the left hand curve near Erin Road.
Gainey braked as the motorcycle moved across a paved apron to Erin Road and then overturned and hit a sign.
Gainey was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. authorities said.
