No bond was granted to a Sarasota man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend and her mother Friday afternoon. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said Bernis Boykins, 42, confessed when they arrived to the scene.

Deputies were called to a home at 2355 20th Street. Once there, they found the mother, Tonya Simpson, 54, dead. Her daughter, and Boykins' ex-girlfriend, Teyanna Leverette, was seriously injured.
Leverette, 20, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Boykins has been charged with one count of murder and another count of attempted murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
