A man suspected in a gas station robbery in unincorporated Largo was arrested early Sunday morning in Seminole.

The robbery occurred at the Sunoco Gas Station, located at 10570 Seminole Boulevard, approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016.

The suspect disguised with a hooded sweatshirt, displayed what appeared to be a black handgun and he demanded money, according to detectives. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the gas station on foot.

Detectives say shortly after the robbery, 22-year-old Darryl Carter was seen walking in the area. He was questioned and released after denying involvement in the robbery.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives later identified Carter as a suspect. The plastic replica handgun that deputies said Carter used during the robbery was also recovered by detectives. 

Deputies arrested Carter during a traffic stop in Seminole at about 4 a.m. on Sunday. Carter was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.
