Here's what you need to know about Tampa Bay's weather for Wednesday:

  • Strong showers moving across the northern part of the Bay area
  • Flood advisory issued for Hernando County until 7 a.m.
  • One to three inches of rain already have fallen in Hernando County

Showers and storms are moving in from the Gulf of Mexico.

Early-morning storms swept east across Hernando and southern Citrus County on Wednesday. The storms included heavy rain, lightning and high winds. Power was knocked out to more than 1,000 residents in Citrus and Hernando counties.

More showers are expected throughout the morning and some of them will be heavy and a few could be strong. Morning lows will still be warm and muggy in the low to mid 70s.

Drier, cooler air will start moving in during the afternoon to evening period. The rain will be gone by evening. So the highest temperatures will actually be in the morning around 78 to 80 degrees.

After the front passes Wednesday evening we’ll begin a stretch of significantly nicer conditions for the rest of the week.

Thursday morning will be cooler and breezy with lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Thursday afternoon will feature partly cloudy skies with a small chance of a quick passing sprinkle or shower. Highs will only reach the upper 70s. It will be windy with a brisk wind from the northwest.
