Deputies say a home invasion turned deadly Wednesday night in Bradenton.

The incident happened at 10:29 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of 64th Avenue E in Bradenton.

  • Other suspects fled the scene, being sought

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, someone called 911 to report a home-invasion robbery and a shooting.

Deputies say four or five armed suspects went in to the home demanding money. An argument ensued, and the situation escalated until weapons were fired.

Two people were shot - someone in the home and one of the suspects. Deputies found both victims in the driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect, identified as Emanuel Johnson, 27 - later died at a local hospital. The victim remains in serious condition.

Deputies are now looking for the other suspects, who fled the scene.

Detectives say they believe the home was targeted, and that the home invasion was not random.
