The 15-year-old girl is facing charges of battery on a specified employee, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy responded to the school at 10 a.m. Thursday after receiving a report that the student had punched teacher Carrie Andreev.

As Deputy Andrew Deluna tried to take the girl into custody, she began to violently resist, investigators say. The girl allegedly scratched him with her fingernails, causing multiple lacerations on both arms.

Officials say the deputy did not use force when taking her into custody and the girl was not injured during the arrest.

We are not naming the girl in accordance with our crime guidelines, as it is not known whether she will be charged as an adult.
