Police say the man attempted to rob the Family Avenue Liquor Store at 3001 North Florida Ave. on May 3. According to the Tampa Police Department, the same man is also suspected of robbing the location – just five blocks west of I-275 – in February and December of last year.

This time, though, the incident was caught on camera.

In his latest robbery attempt on May 3, the suspect entered the Family Avenue Liquor Store armed with a gun. The man made small talk with the store clerk before pointing the gun at her and demanding money, police said.

However police say another customer walked into the store, unknowingly thwarting the robbery attempt.

The man then fled northbound on North Florida Avenue on a bicycle.

No shots were fired and no one was harmed. The suspect is believed to be between 5-feet 8 and 5-feet-11 and weigh between 250-260 pounds.

A $3,000 reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers of Tampa for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the unidentified suspect in this case. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.
