A homeowner was shot Monday during an attempted car burglary, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 12:33 a.m., deputies were called to a home 6800 block of Aramon Court in Wesley Chapel.

The homeowner told deputies that he came outside his home to smoke a cigarette and found two men attempting to burglarize his vehicle. He yelled at the burglars, who fired shots at him, deputies said. The homeowner was hit in the left thigh.

He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects have not been captured.
