A youth pastor at a Tampa church was arrested on Sunday and faces multiple charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and sexual battery for having sex with a teen.

  • Samuel Sutter, 26, youth pastor at Openwater Church in Odessa
  • Deputies say Sutter and the victim had sex "numerous times"

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say Samuel Armand Sutter, 26, started a sexual relationship with the victim in October 2015. The victim attended Openwater Church in Odessa, where Sutter is a youth pastor.

The victim reportedly disclosed the relationship to her mother after the mother found sexual pictures, videos and texts exchanged between the suspect and the victim. The mother then contacted the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the victim reported having "numerous" sexual encounters with the suspect. Most of them, she said, took place in the suspect's home, though two encounters took place in the ladies' bathroom at the church.

Sutter faces five counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim age 12-16 and sexual battery.
